Thanksgiving and Black Friday

So good news everyone I found out I was accepted for the Flourishing families project!! (If you forget what this is read like 2 blog posts down) This past Thurs was Thanksgiving... it was just eh another day.. we went to work and had a good thanksgiving dinner at the MTC for free though they ran out of turkey so they gave us fried chicken lol (this was ok with me because I actually like fried chicken better!) Friday Tyler and I decided to go shopping for our siblings Christmas gifts... We have everyone's except for Cody and Coltons... So I am getting really anxious for Lydia to arrive! We still have several big items that we need to get... a crib/bassanet, a breast pump, a changing table, a high chair, and a baby swing... They are all really expensive and I am trying to find ones that are used... well except for the breast pump because in my mind thats like using someone else's underwear lol I got two cute onesies today... one is a 0-3 month size and it is yellow with pink writing that says "Daddy's little princess" and the other one is 3-6 months and it is pink and says "my *picture of a heart* belongs to my daddy" I thought they were cute and couldn't pass them up because they were really cheap at wal-mart.. I have slowly started to collect clothes, we have a winter snowsuit for her, a stroller, a pack-and-play play pin, a carseat, a crib set (bumper, comforter, ect), a pack of 4 cloth diapers, and a few blankets... A few of my friends and an old roommate of mine are going to throw a baby shower for me here within the next couple weeks (before everyone goes home for Christmas break)... I don't expect many people to show up though.. They asked me if it was ok insteed of doing the typical games if it could be a scrapbooking baby shower.. basically the hostesses would all pitch in some money and their own scrapbooking supplies and bring them to the shower and everyone would sit around and make me scrapbooking pages for Lydia's baby book... that way I will just have to put the pictures on the pages my friends already made! I thought this was a great idea!! It would save me a TON of time and each page would mean something special! I probably wouldn't even get around to Lydia's baby scrapbook until another child would be on the way... WHICH IS GOING TO BE A LONG TIME!! I only have like 3 pages done of our wedding scrapbook! lol So I am offically 30 weeks and 2 days... My "due date" that they calculated at the last ultrasound is Feb 1st... but the "actual" due date is supposed to be Feb 5... we will see how long both lydia and I last! She is getting sooo big! Big enough where you can see her moving on the outside of my stomach! At times you can see what is a knee or elbow just move accross my stomach! and at night she likes to bunch up and lay on my left side... so the left side of my stomach is HUGE and it just slants down to my right side being like nothing hahaha... She is moving around quite a bit but its because she is running out of room... the doctor said within the next couple of weeks she should move into the head down position getting ready to come out! I have a doctors appointment dec 10th.. it isn't with my regular doctor because he is on vacation that week but its with the other doctor thats at the practice... I have 9 weeks and 5 days left.. I have decided to make the time fly faster I have a like weekly "countdown" of something to look forward to each week to keep my mind off of counting until she comes...

Like this week was Thanksgiving and Black Friday
This coming week all my term papers are due
Then my birthday!
Then the baby shower
Then finals and Christmas Break
THen Christmas
Then New Years
Then the new semester starts
Then a blank week the week of Jan 12
Then a day off of school because of Martin Luther King Jr day
Then a blank week
Then the week she is due!!

I am taking 3 classes on campus this coming semester... 2 of them are only once a week and the one class Dr. Day said he is going to be very flexible with me... the other class I haven't talked to the professor yet but i'm sure she won't care.. if she does I will drop the class lol and the other class is 3 times a week and the prof said she will work with me... 2 of the days the plan is after lydia is born tyler will get off work an hour early so he can watch her while i'm in class... I know Tyler will be a great dad.. but I'm just a little worried about the whole changing diaper deal still... he gages at the site/smell of any type of poop! Hopefully that will change soon! I will update again soon!!

Our mini-vacation

Friday we had another try at the 3d ultrasound... though we had a little more luck not much!! I finally was just like.. give us what you have and we are giving up! Here is the best shot we got She is sleeping and laying on her hand (on the left).. all we have really been able to see is she has really chubby cheeks (wouldn't know which parent she got that from) and she has a small nose like mine... I PRAY she has Tyler's dimples!

Anyway Tyler and I decided that we wanted to take a mini-vacation this weekend down to Moab, Utah because this would be our last chance to go on a vacation pre-children. It was a lot of fun! It was off season so it was not really busy and hotels were REALLY discounted! It was also much warmer down there than it is here.. it was like 65-70 degrees which was a nice change.

Here are some pictures (though I will only be able to describe a couple.. to me a rock is a rock... but Tyler would be able to tell you the name, why its named that, how it was formed, ect hehe)

So we got to Moab in the late afternoon on Friday and it was already starting to get dark.. the sun is setting at about 5:30 here!!!!! We decided we were going to go see Dead Horse point or something like that... as we were traveling up this canyon Tyler was really scared because the road was curvey and the drop off would be fatal and it was starting to get dark so he was grandpa crusing up this mountain and all of a sudden we come around the corner and I see two HUGE things on the road.. and what do you know.. they are cows!!!

They were just walking and eating not realizing they could get hit by cars! So I am thinking what in the world at these random cows doing up this mountain! it wasn't until about 1/2 a mile up the road that we saw this sign

That would have been nice to know BEFORE we saw the cows and almost hit them!

Tyler was driving sooo slow (which better safe than sorry I guess) that by the time we got to this dead horse place it was dark and we couldn't see anything (which didn't bother me much I was hungry and just wanted to relax in the hotel) So we decided to drive alllll the way back down to go back into Moab.. of course the whole time I was freaking out because it was dark and I was scared we were going to hit stupid cows! Though we didn't! We ended up going to this nice resturant that was the former home of this millionaire back in the day! it was built ontop of a mountain! It was called Sunset something and would have been BEAUTIFUL to eat in during sunset because the one whole side of the resturant is just glass so you can see the entire town.. we ate there after sunset so we got to see all the town lights which were still really pretty!! here is a picture of it in the day from the road

Then after the resturant we just spent the rest of the night relaxing in the hotel

Today (sat) we woke up ate breakfast and went to a place called Hole N'' The Rock.. it is this 5000 sqft house that is built INTO the mountain! It was so awesome! It was starting to be built in the 50s and then in the 70s after the wife died they made it into a museum (we couldn't take any pictures inside though) the guy who made it and lived there was an artist and carved things in the walls of his house and even Roosevelt on the outside of his house.. They said they didn't need heat or air conditioning because the house always stayed at a range of 67-72 degrees all year round!

They also had a petting zoo there!

Tyler not listening to the sign!

Another crazy sign we saw... luckily though we didn't see any bighorn sheep!! Arches National Park was really pretty though

There are many more pictures but I'm too lazy to post them all!! We had a great time!!

Busy week ahead of us

I decided to make this blog so I didn't have to keep writing emails... not that I don't love writing emails to all of you but I would like to have updates of what was going on in our family on a weekly basis months even years down the road from now... This past week was pretty uneventful.. we didn't do too much... Some of you may know, others of you may not (I forget who I tell sometimes), I am in a student organization here at school called School of Family life Student Association... basically it it ran by my college (School of Family life is the college and my major is Marriage, Family, and Human Development... for those of you who might have forgotten) anyway this looks good on resumes and applications of sorts.. well they need board members for this year and I have applied... I doubt I will get it though because my GPA last year as a Molecular Biology major was not too pretty.. but oh well I won't be disappointed at all if I don't get the position because I still have two more years to try! But the whole reason I am saying this is because I needed to have two faulty recommendations in order to apply... I asked my one professor who is a wonderful young beautiful professor (she had a baby a couple months ago and her best friend is a nurse of mine at my OBs hehe) anyway she sent me a copy of the recommendation she provided and it was a total confidence booster.. Here it is!

Dear Laura Walker,

As an instructor in the School of Family Life, I have had the pleasure of teaching the course, Preparation for Marriage, to Brittni Bunce the past few months. She has great energy and is very motivated to succeed. I would highly recommend her for a board position in the SFLSA.

As an MFHD major, Brittni is very competent and has great passion for the field of study. This is evident in comments she makes during class and is reflected in her papers. Brittni would be an excellent SLFSA board member because of her great leadership qualities, especially those of dedication and reliability. I have also been impressed with the good communication qualities Brittni possesses.

Again, because of the passion and drive that I have seen in Brittni, I would highly recommend her for a board position in SFLSA. If you have any further questions regarding this recommendation, please contact me.

Thank you,

My other recommendation was given by Dr. Day, who is probably my favorite professor. He is the one in charge of Flourishing Families Project (some of you know about this others dont... ) the easiest way to explain it is to go to its website http://www.flourishingfamilies.org/ I have an interview as part of an application process to be an interviewer for the project here in Utah over the spring and summer. They do the main part of the project in Seattle WA over the spring and summer and then do a branch of it here in Utah.. which I could just up and move my family to WA so I am applying for the one here in Utah... I would be working 15-20 hours a week which would be perfect and its pretty flexible... plus I would get paid more than my current job... The good part about this is it isn't often that undergraduates get to participate in a study of the size and importance... plus many other colleges are really interested in this study... Ohio State is a collaborator of the project too! Even though it is still a ways away, the plan right now I hope is to go to Ohio State for Grad school in Marriage and Family Therapy... which if I did this research project would look REALLLYYYY good on the application there.

Well enough of that.. I took a test yesterday and go a B+ but it is curved so I hopefully will end up with an A after the curve... to my surprise I still have an A or A- in every class! again that is a large improvement from my classes last year... especially my calc class where on my final I had no clue what I was doing and just wanted to go home so it was multiple choice and I just went ABCDABCDABCDABCD... the worst part was I wasn't even close to getting the lowest grade on the final!

Today Tyler and I made a baby blanket for Lydia... when I say made I mean cut and tied fleece together heheh but it was something fun we could do together plus I feel sad for Ty because he doesn't have as much "interaction" with Lydia as I do.. so I think he sometimes feels left out deep down inside... so I thought it would be good to make a blanket for her... plus I read in one of my baby books that the parents should start sleeping with a baby blanket so when the baby is born it has something that smells like the parents... Maybe a crazy idea but hey dont' think its going to hurt anything.. The blanket is a yellow fleece on one side and then striped on the other with yellow, green, blue, and purple stripes

Here is tyler with the blanket

He claims he doesn't do arts and crafts so I guess this was a big step for him... right now he is playing Guitar Hero World Tour... I do have to admit this is one game I am glad he bought because it is fun for me too... not only do you have 2 guitars to play lead and bass, but you also have a drum set that looks like an actual mini-drum set and you have a mic... so you can sing like karaoke so it is a fun game that we can play together!

I have a doctors appointment on Wed.. now that I'm in my third trimester I will have to start going every 2 weeks and then in the last month I will have to go every week... Oh yeah the flow of emotions have returned... I find myself crying over everything and anything... I remember it started on election night... I didn't want Obama to win at all.. but when he did I just started bawling not because he won (I'm not that crazy of a Republican) but because he grandma just died and she wouldn't be able to see that he won... The same problems are arising just like the first trimester tyler will say something to me that normally wouldn't make me cry but then I just cry for no reason and he gets mad and upset because I am crying over nothing which then makes me cry even worse and then I can't breath... I HATE crying esp over nothing or something that normally wouldn't even bother me in the slightest... I used to yell at people who would cry over nothing... I just can't wait until I'm not pregnant anymore and I can get back to my heartless self lol :)

The First Post!!

So I have finally decided to give in and get a blog for our family... I have always been more into facebook and I feel so old getting a blog, but it seems like when you are married with kids, this is more the route you take than facebook. (Not saying that any of my friends who have a blog are old or anything ;) ) As of today I am 28 weeks pregnant! It has flown by! School is going really well and I'm doing well in all of my classes, which is a big change from last year! I figured I would put on some pictures to show the progress of my pregnancy and Lydia!
My progression
Month number 4... the bump is there!
Month number five.. the pump is getting bigger

Month number 6 starting to really look pregnant
